Hi Jarek, It seems to me that the output of your strace tells us that you are running speech-dispatcher in server mode. That is not the default anymore, and I believe not recommended. Could you try to kill speech-dispatcher, change your /etc/init.d/speech-dispatcher to say "no" to auto-start and try again?
