Hi Paul, It is interesting info that you use apper. I suggest to not yet reassign this bug to apper. You haven't answered my question about a proxy, so I guess you don't use one. Can you try installing http://people.debian.org/~bartm/flashplugin-nonfree/flashplugin-nonfree_3.1.bug693591_amd64.deb with apper ? It makes wget produce more noise, so maybe you'll then see what wget's problem really is.
