I'm afraid you're going to have to give a much better description of the behavior than "crashed" for me to have any hope of fixing this... i.e. what output did reportbug display? did it display a traceback?
No traceback, it just segfaulted and coredumped. Looking at the traceback in gdb, it seemed that the stack was badly corrupted: the traceback was long and meaningless (mostly non-code locations, i.e. "??" instead of function names).
