Package: dnsmasq Version: 2.19-1 Severity: normal
Hi, dnsmasq failed to give the ip address associated with a MAC address if the host don't release the ip address (for example power failure on a machine).
The only way to fix it is to clear /var/lib/misc/dnsmasq.leases .
Dnsmasq sould remove the old entry and give the ip address set for the MAC address.
Dnsmasq will give that same address after a power failure as long as it recognises the same machine. There are situations involving DHCP client-id options which can cause a machine to not be recognised when it reboots. Check the FAQ for details of this.
Can you give a specific example of behaviour which you think is wrong? Please include the logs of DHCP interactions which dnsmasq puts in the syslog.
Cheers,
Simon.
