Actually, I just noticed that in WITHOUT_SOURCELESS builds radeon.ko isn't provided at all. There's only radeonkms.ko, and it seems to work (somewhat, i.e. no 3D acceleration) without the non-free firmware. So it seems the choice is clear: - With Debian kernel builds, "radeonkms" is the only option. - With upstream kernel builds, "radeonkms" is preferred to "radeon".
