Tyler, In http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=288034 you report problems booting the 2.6.8 kernel on an older d-i on a dl360g3. This is known to be working in more recent kernels/d-i's so you might want to try it again and report back if it works.
