This format (8 bit indexed, 6 bit per channel and palette entry) is
supported as DSPF_LUT8. It's the probing mode switch ioctl to test if
the driver supports it. Drivers shouldn't reject their own provided
modes. Which driver was that?
We removed all drivers except matrox, and the BR [1] submitter was using
nvidia, so i gues sthe river is fbdev ?
He also provided this screenshot [2] that should give some useful
informations about the failure.
This bug was also found [3] with intel 82810E, a chip i suspect equips
many new server boxes.
