IIRC, a specific bug (394871) is still open about deadkeys not
working, but i cannot verify by myself if deadkeys now work, as i
don't have the necessary knowledge
Choose french keymap
go to a place where you can test the input
Hit the key right to "p" and then a "e" --> you should get a ê
So far i have the following test cases
* fr-latin9
- "[" then "vowel" gives "^ vowel" : thats true for all vowels except "a"
- "AltGr" + "vowel" gives "^ vowel" : thats true for all vowels except
"a" and "e" (the former key combination gives "^q", the latter an
uninteligible symbol)
* br-latin1
- "'" then "vowel" gives "^ vowel" : thats true for all vowels
- Apparently there seem to be no AltGr + vowel valid combination here
this should be enough for now to do some testing.
Yesterday dok provided a link to a page where i may find some
interesting informations about how to make deadkeys work under dfb.
I quoted a commit log from May 5th which says that dead key handling
has been implemented. Which version are you using?
We're using DFB 0.9.25, and comparing diff from cvs [1] and changelog
for directfb in debian [2] makes me think we'll need a backport.
I'll take care of that and see if we can manage deadkeys this way; in
the case i should succeed i'll prepare a patchfile for guillem (cc'ed)
to apply, given we still make it in time.
I'll do my best to get deadkeys working, this is ATM the most annoying
bug left in g-i (apart, i think, pixelformat rgba 6/0, 6/0, 6/0, 0/0 not
being supported, but IIRC you gave us some hints to fix this some weeks
ago).
cheers
Attilio
