Please clarify:  Are you saying that there's no support for what you
perceive to be hardware raid or that the installer is not seeing two
disks to use software raid on?

I don't know your hardware but I just installed on an Asus board and was
told that it's "hardware raid" is really bios-configured windows
software raid.  I used Debian's software raid (raid1/lvm combo) and all
was well.
