I concur with FransÅ› opinion here, it would be much better to actually fix
linux-input, which should be easier to do than the graphical part.

I cannot help though, as i have no affected hardware.

If recent fixes to usb-modules by frans solved touchpads not working on i386, then it makes sense to me too not disabling linux_input by default for all architectures as i previously suggested, but maybe for PPC boxes only (with proper exceptions). Of course we need some support from DFB guys: detecting what's wrong with linux_input on PPC boxes is not something i can do myself.
