Package: installation-reports Debian-installer-version: ~jbaily daily build Aug 26 directory, aug25 23:18 uname -a: n/a Date: Aug 26 01:29:00 EST Method: netboot from known working tftp server
Machine: Alphastation 255 Processor: ~230Mhz Memory: 64MB Root Device: /dev/ram Root Size/partition table: n/a Output of lspci and lspci -n: n/a Base System Installation Checklist: [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Initial boot worked: [O] Configure network HW: [E] Config network: [O] Detect CD: [ ] Load installer modules: [E] Detect hard drives: [ ] Partition hard drives: [ ] Create file systems: [ ] Mount partitions: [ ] Install base system: [ ] Install boot loader: [ ] Reboot: [ ] Comments/Problems: 1) There are formatting problems on the language selection menus (vga console, squares for international characters, some of which cause errors drawing the menu scrollbar and side) 2) The installation system detects onboard tulip and inserts the modules, but this wedges the ethernet card. With no way to remove the module, the only way to avoid this problem is to escape out of the menu sequence before network hardware detection and insert it by hand with the "options=3" parameter to hard-set it to 10BaseT (this card is 10BaseT only running on a 10/100 switchport.) 3) The kernel package being used for this daily build is out of sequence with the repository (-1 vs -3), which asks to abort the install when loading installer modules. This situation makes it very hard to fully test the daily builds. Leaving older kernel revisions in the pool/list for a while might be the easiest overall solution. -- Brian -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
