I had to make changes to X11config. No problems for me as I have done it many times. After playing with RH, Fed, Mdk, Suse, I tried Debian and found it worked extremely well. So much so, that I am staying with it although Mdk10 thus far has been best, at least with 2.4 kernel, on this Thinkpad-T20. Sleep worked well, sorry you do not have SWSUSPEND, but that no longer works at all with any the other distributions right now. "MC" under root does not allow me to open a display, such as gedit. "MC" under user: "enter" does not always work, sometimes I have to do "enter & up/down arrow", and sometimes MC locks up.. Initially icewm presented lots of pgms that were installed, but when I went to my old menu these were lost, and even when I tried to go back to original menu - they were lost there too. Gnome has some problems, which may be due to my deleting things. No problem for me as I don't use them anyway. I deleted open-office, I just use gnumeric. Next time I install I will try to pick and choose what to install and see how/if it works. [EMAIL PROTECTED] George Hein, retired IBM programmer, White Plains, NY, USA P.S. Thanks for a fine package. However I find a few things awkward since I have been used to the RH and MDK environments, e.g. I had to change my /etc/sysconfig/iptables to a bash executable. --------------------------------------- Received: (at 269995-done) by bugs.debian.org; 4 Sep 2004 20:46:40 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Sep 04 13:46:40 2004 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from lns-th2-5f-81-56-227-253.adsl.proxad.net (kheops.homeunix.org) [81.56.227.253] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1C3hQm-00017j-00; Sat, 04 Sep 2004 13:46:40 -0700 Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by kheops.homeunix.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6FD6D4062; Sat, 4 Sep 2004 22:46:09 +0200 (CEST) Received: from kheops.homeunix.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (kheops [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id 25917-10; Sat, 4 Sep 2004 22:46:09 +0200 (CEST) Received: from mykerinos.kheops.frmug.org (mykerinos.kheops.frmug.org [192.168.1.3]) by kheops.homeunix.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D4415405D; Sat, 4 Sep 2004 22:46:08 +0200 (CEST) Received: from localhost (mykerinos.kheops.frmug.org [127.0.0.1]) by mykerinos.kheops.frmug.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B277C2327C; Sat, 4 Sep 2004 22:46:08 +0200 (CEST) Received: from mykerinos.kheops.frmug.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (mykerinos [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id 23871-02; Sat, 4 Sep 2004 22:46:08 +0200 (CEST) Received: by mykerinos.kheops.frmug.org (Postfix, from userid 7426) id 27B662326B; Sat, 4 Sep 2004 22:46:08 +0200 (CEST) Date: Sat, 4 Sep 2004 22:46:08 +0200 From: Christian Perrier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: George Hein <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Bug#269995: good install of test Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> X-message-flag: Outlook is a good virus spreading tool.
