Comments/Problems:
factory-new IBM scsi disks on gdt controller.
cfdisk detected an invalid partition table.
So did fdisk on the console.
After writing a valid but empty partition
table using fdisk all went fine.
If swap is not handled first the installer incorrectly uses the last
mounting point
and consequently has a problem
