Those directions describe how to install sarge using CDs made from a CD image available at
http://gluck.debian.org/cdimage/testing/netinst/
(I used sarge-i386-netinst.iso.)
I have created a CD 3 different ways using that image, but none of the CDs are bootable. I downloaded the image to my PC. The md5sum is correct. I used Adaptec Easy CD Creator 3.5c. The first time I guessed how to set the parameters in Easy CD Creator. When that CD didn't work, I found directions on creating a CD under Windows using Easy CD Creator at
http://www.debian.org/CD/faq/#record-unix
When that didn't work, I copied the CD image to my Linux machine and used cdrecord according to the directions also at
http://www.debian.org/CD/faq/#record-unix
In every case, my machine gets to the point where it should boot from CD, but it goes past it and boots either from fd (if one is installed) or hd. The machine will boot from a knoppix CD, so the problem is not in my BIOS settings. Any suggestions?
