Well, actually you can, and I've done it on occasion. But
you're correct in what you intended here: it's not really
a newbie procedure to go fiddling with apt preferences and
sources.list and manual apt-get commands. Not to mention
the 'lint' you have to pick up for weeks afterwards :-)
