Package: boot-floppies Version: 3.0.20 version for sparc tagged: 2002-03-07
machine: ss2 memory: 48M After booting from the rescue.bin with options to the kernel of: ip=rarp root=/dev/nfs nfsroot=/pub/debian/woody/sparc/debian-sparc-root since the sparc root.bin will not fit on a single floppy(This is a known problem) and since the tftpimage won't boot on the ss2 (see my recent addition to 83431). There are few problems with this configuration. The minor ones are that it cannot do dns lookups since the network was rarped by the kernel and it doesn't have a name server configured (minor since I am using a local http proxy server). The major one is that after configuring the network for dhcp and install via http, the install hangs on "Installing Base System" with "Calling debootstrap." The progress bar does not progress and the proxy is not getting any requests. I realize that this is a convoluted way to boot the install, but I have found no other successful way to do it and this is the farthest that I have gotten. The easy solution to this problem would get the root.bin to actually fit on a floppy. I can do other testing if it would help. Thanks. >>>------> -- +-------------+-----------------------+---------------+ | Ed Schaller | [EMAIL PROTECTED] | mistymushroom | +-------------+-----------------------+---------------+ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
