Hi Tim, I just found your installation report from 2013 regarding Buffalo Linkstation HS-DSGL that unfortunately nobody responded to,

So if I understand you correctly, the config-debian script gives an error. It checks whether sda1 or md0 are ext2 or ext3 filesystem. But if I understand correctly, this is no longer called sda1 or md0 on newer firmware versions but /dev/disk1-1something. So maybe in addition to sda1 and md0, we should also accept disk1-1. I know it's been two years, but can you check what the device is called exactly? I've copied Roger Shimizu who also works with Linkstation devices. Maybe he can help.
