However, bisecting to find out what's happening without the hardware would likely be tedious. It seems there was at least some fun related to the backlight, see this commit: http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=dfb3d47b2369ad752ab9f7438bbf9949524b46ae The build you mentioned should have had this fix though (first appeared in a Debian package with the 3.16.5-1 upload).
