first of all, two phase bootstrapping rocks. debootstrap²++! :-) problem description / steps to reproduce (on amd64 on wheezy, with debooststrap from bpo): # apt-get install qemu-user-static binfmt-support # debootstrap --arch=armel --foreign jessie ./jessie http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian # cp /usr/bin/qemu-arm-static jessie/usr/bin/ # chroot ./jessie/ /debootstrap/debootstrap --second-stage -> a nice armel chroot, but /etc/apt/sources.list is empty (and so is sources.list.d/) cheers, Holger
