Ah, sorry - there's a bit of confusion here. Thanks for continuing on and posting that image link, it's very helpful! The meny you're looking at is the initial bootloader menu (syslinux). d-i has *not* yet started here. Any of the menu choices here will start the 64-bit kernel and that's why you're seeing the hang on your 32-bit system.
