C-s doesn't break console-data, nor does it provide all of the functionality of c-d. C-s can be configured to omit the font and/or keymap configuration in which case c-d can do this or c-s can be configured to use the fonts and/or keymaps of c-d. > Some may argue that c-d provides a few very exotic (or obsolete) > keymaps and maybe console fonts, that console-setup doesn't > provide.....but the number of affected users is probably very very > close to zero nowadays. I agree. I am not against removing c-d. What I don't like is to abuse 'Breaks' and 'Provides' inapropriately. We must not force our way to the users, they have the right to install c-d even if the package is removed from the archive. The number of the affected users may be close to zero but it is definitely not zero. BTW, on my computers I am using packages from old Debian releases that are no longer available.
