I tried this with d-i netcfg/wireless_show_essids select manual and all that happened was that the wireless networks were listed and "Enter ESSID manually" was highlighted in red. The Debconf Programmer's Tutorial at http://www.fifi.org/doc/debconf-doc/tutorial.html says for "select": > Holds one of a finite number of possible values.
