Sure enough, pcmcia.c had:
/* FIXME: must remove serial_cs and

I've checked in something that I hope will make it work, but I don't have any
pcmcia equipment here to test with. Can you try it again when b-f 3.0.18 is
out and report back whether it makes a difference?
