I mentioned that I can now boot into Mac OS X (and I do not know why). As I was re-reading my original installation-report I noticed something, and rebooted the system to confirm:
Before: the choices were "old" and "linux". Now: the choices are "linux", "mac os", and "cdrom". It seems that either Yaboot (or whatever) has been changed; else I was not seeing Yaboot before. I didn't remember exactly what the original boot loader said but the current one says: First Stage GNU/Linux Bootstrap Press l for Linux Press m for Mac OS Press c for CDROM Stage 1 Boot: After about 10 seconds it defaults to Linux and boots. ----------------------------------------- As for the screen dim/shutoff - it is an iffy thing. Sometimes fn+F1 works and sometimes just F1 works.
