Package: debian-installer Version: 20101020 Severity: normal Tags: squeeze Hi,
I installed the Beta1 squeeze netinst ISO on an old Toshiba Portege 3020CT notebook. The installer ran fine to completion, then failed to find the root filesystem on first boot. The Installer had told grub to pass "all_generic_ide" to the kernel, but the resulting libata driver fails to find the IDE controller on this machine. Forcing the loading of ide_generic gets the controller detected (albeit with very low throughput). There may be some Toshiba IDE controller support from 2.6.33 in libata. Dunno if this is really an installer or a kernel bug....
