File a bug against the packages that contain files: grep md5 /etc/pam.d/*|cut -f1 -d: so that they default to have "md5" there in appropriate lines. Otherwise when base-config adds "md5" to those files, on first upgrade the user is asked if she wants the modified config file replaced. That might confuse newbies.
