Package: keyboard-configuration Version: 1.50 Severity: normal The configuration dialog for "dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration" does not ask for the level 3 modificator key and just inserts the default value into /etc/default/keyboard.
I want to use the right alt only as a compose key (not altgr and not level 3) and when using the wizard I am not asked for lv3 and therefore get: XKBOPTIONS="lv3:ralt_alt,compose:ralt,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp" It seems that the consequence of this is that the compose key is not functioning as I was used to (can not press eg: ralt+" (simultaneously) and then u to get ΓΌ, instead I need to use a little longer procedure of pressing each key by itself: ralt, " and finally u). After manually removing the level 3 settting from that line to just: XKBOPTIONS="compose:ralt,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp" Everything started to work as it should. So adding an option to select the level 3 modification key or disable it would solve this. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (800, 'testing-proposed-updates'), (600, 'unstable'), (500, 'squeeze') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages keyboard-configuration depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.28 Debian configuration management sy keyboard-configuration recommends no packages. keyboard-configuration suggests no packages. -- debconf information: keyboard-configuration/layout: * keyboard-configuration/variant: USA debian-installer/console-setup-udeb/title: keyboard-configuration/unsupported_options: true * keyboard-configuration/ctrl_alt_bksp: true keyboard-configuration/variantcode: keyboard-configuration/other: keyboard-configuration/optionscode: lv3:ralt_alt,compose:ralt,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp keyboard-configuration/modelcode: toshiba_s3000 keyboard-configuration/unsupported_config_options: true keyboard-configuration/unsupported_config_layout: true keyboard-configuration/toggle: No toggling * keyboard-configuration/compose: Right Alt (AltGr) keyboard-configuration/switch: No temporary switch * keyboard-configuration/altgr: No AltGr key keyboard-configuration/unsupported_layout: true * keyboard-configuration/model: Toshiba Satellite S3000 keyboard-configuration/layoutcode: us -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
