And if the current solution really is the only way to do this, then IMO the file should be at least be kept compressed at all times. > Way too many obscure choices resulting only to confuse users > ------------------------------------------------------------ > IMO we should just only offer the generic models (plus arch-specific > models). BTW, it seems to me that for c-s to become a real success on the desktop users will need to be able to configure it using a configuration dialog that is integrated in their desktop environment, not through debconf. If that is not done, users will simply continue to use the keyboard configuration tools that are included with the desktop environment, like the Settings/Regional & Accessibility/Keyboard Layout option in KDE. Maybe something for a few Summer of Code projects. > Questions are asked in such a way that they invite *wrong* answers > ------------------------------------------------------------------ > The main problem is that country names are used instead of adjectives. > Compare: > * Do you use a Dutch or an English American keyboard layout? > * Is your keyboard from the Netherlands or the USA? > Which is more likely to be answered correctly? Another thing is that it is natural to think of a keyboard as Dutch, French, American, .... For American that means you will naturally look under "A" and not way down at the other end of the list under "U". -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
