The GTK backend logic changed some time around 2.13 (http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gtk-devel-list/2008-February/msg00099.html) And this ( (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=122159&action=view) patch was an attempt to revive the broken GTK/DFB backend But even after this patch .. there are issues (see this - http://www.nabble.com/Unable-to-run-gtk-demo-for-gtk%2B-2.14.6-with-DirectFB-:-help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-td21289822.html)
Now , i am not sure if these have been resolved with 2.14.7-2 ?
