I tried this a bit more now. I couldn't reproduce the hang anymore when attaching an USB disk, only when using the eSATA connector. eSATA problems could be easily addressed to the experimental sata support, but I don't know why I had the same problem with USB before (I think I tried it two or three times back then).
Anyway, the directory access problem is still there. I now checked with both a 1TB disk and 300GB disk, and both had the same sort of problems:
d????????? ? ? ? ? ? Ø - Metri etc.
Is this a vfat filesystem?
