Hi guys,

I bought a Cubieboard some days ago (http://cubieboard.org).
I would like to install a Debian Testing on it and some useful services
(webserver, wiki, xmpp server, mail server, ...).

I took a look at the doc' and found some interesting things here:
http://linux-sunxi.org/Cubieboard/
http://linux-sunxi.org/Cubieboard/Installing_on_NAND

Did somebody already try this ?
Did youo do it the same way ?
Info about that are welcome.

I have successfully installed Debian on the nand of my CubieBoard using those instructions. It was not very hard or time consuming, so I would say that as long as you are familar with linux you should be able to do it. Also, you don't have to worry about bricking your CubieBoard, as the uboot will boot first from the uSD card and then the flash, so even if you corrupt the flash somehow, you can alwasy put linux onto a uSD card, and try again.

If you have more questions, then I think you will get more help from the Google Group mailing list on the CubieBoard. It is quite active, and there are a number of people on it who know far more about the CubieBoard than I do, including the original designer, and the guy who created the Debian image you are using.

And I have a question: as the Debian installer takes the arch armhf in charge,
do you think a standard install' from a netboot image will work ?
I don't think so. As far as I know, there is not an offical Debian build of the Kernel for the CubieBoard yet, so you cannot install a CubieBoard using the Debian installer, or upgrade the kernel on one using Debian.

I don't know if there are plans to add the CubieBoard kernel to Debian. You should ask on the Google Group mailing list if you are interested, but I would probably take a while.
