Thanks for making me look at the obvious :-) I checked my log files and you are correct, the repository argument was missing the double-quotes. This happened because I used echo from the command line to send the arguments to the sheevaplug. (Pasting text in puTTY seems to require a middle mouse button, which I don't have.)
