Hi Karma,
I am using a Western Digital Passport (Essential) 320 GB. http://www.westerndigital.com/en/products/products.asp?DriveID=391 It is expensive, but as it is USB powered there is no extra power brick, cable, socket, etc required. My Slug just stands on the drive; it is very neat, and almost silent. Alan On Sep 2, 2008, at 7:20 PM, Kumar Appaiah wrote:
Dear Debian arm users, I managed a successful installation of the armel Debian GNU/Linux on my slug, but it lasted only a day, since the hard disk failed and I could not recover several files which were necessary for the system. I have, therefore, decided to look at a fresh hard disk. The market of external hard disks is overwhelming, and I was just wondering if you could, based on your experience, suggest anything to consider (or NOT consider) when it comes to the brand or make of the hard disk. I am looking for external hard disks, not necessarily portable, in the 250GB (or much more) range. The primary use of the disk is with the Slug running Debian for data storage, but I want to try out some other things (like running light servers) on it. Thanks. Kumar -- Kumar Appaiah
