I've been putting together VirtualBox VMs that start with Ubuntu and add lots of blind-friendly packages. For example: emacspeak, espeak-ng, espeak-ng-data, espeakup, fenrir, mbrola-*, orca, speech-dispatcher, ... I suspect that I'll be getting into a lot of configuration issues eventually (pointers and suggestions welcome!), but at the moment I'm just trying to find out whether I need to install speakup and speakup-doc and how to do so.
