Actually, the hardware clock code in the 2.6 kernel is just plain broken for all macs. It is a known issue that just hasn't gotten fixed yet due to the long list of other issues. The directory structure has nothing to do with the kernel, however. Some of the device nodes may not work with a 2.6 kernel for various reasons, but the paths are not determined by the kernel in either 2.2 or 2.6.
