That's normal; DevFS does not exist for 2.2, which is why we hacked around that with a userspace DevFS emulation. It's very ugly, but it works; the only thing is that you will see that error message during bootup while booting a 2.2 kernel. It worked for me... Not specifically on an LC475, though, and those are (IIRC) reported to have a 68LC040 processor rather than a 'full' 68040. Is yours swapped out for a real one?
