You need gcc272 for 2.2 (and 2.0 if you really want to try that) kernels. The debian kernel-source package contains quite a few fixes. The m68k kernel-patch package basically gets you back to linux-m68k CVS, I am in the process of changing that, I have a much smaller diff (for debian's kernel-source-2.4.20), but I haven't tested it yet, so I don't know if I erased too much. Now if you try 2.0, 2.2, or 2.4, or maybe even 2.5, is really up to you.
