I've made my own contact with RMLL to understand their 2012 revenue, and also to compare against their 2011 event in Strasbourg (which is actually quite close to Switzerland, but in France, so it is very handy for comparison to `normal' European prices)
They have given me 2012 figures, still waiting for a reply about 2011 Their 2012 total revenue was about 90,000 CHF and a big part of that was Geneva (city/canton/tourism marketing). This leaves me feeling that less than 50k comes from `other sources'. Looking at their list: http://2012.rmll.info/partenaires-et-sponsors and comparing to previous years, it appears some are regular sponsors from .fr. If you then look at Luca's comments below, (2) and (3), there was minimal funding from local sources (e.g. Swiss companies donating for a one-time event). This leaves me to conclude that for budget safety, we should probably try to operate within the following constraints: a) regular sponsors - up to 50k CHF b) Swiss sponsors - up to 30k CHF c) safety margin (deduct 10%) => total sponsors - up to 72k CHF Obviously it would be nice to have more money and if more money comes, it can pay for more travel sponsorship. But the speculation that we will get 150k in sponsorship and 50k in professional fees is not based on any evidence.
