That's good to hear. > They asked me how DebConf/Debian can help the university. > > During the global team meeting we talked about classes or workshops. It's certainly fine to do that, though we can't *force* people to add themselves there of course. You can also offer them unlimited free registrations for the conference (just attendance, not food and accommodation, I mean) -- while it's obvious to us that they can get that, they may not realise unless you point it out. > They also mentioned a couple of other things: > > 1. The local LUG at the U and the Debian Nicaragua community > could help with some practical stuff, but they need someone with experience > to give them some advice on how to implement such migration. I'm sure we will have qualified people at the conference who would volunteer to advise them -- perhaps ask on debconf-disc...@lists.debconf.org, or on another wider Debian list. > 2. Books. The IT department need books for their library. The language > doesn't matter, neither if they're physical or electronic books. We can ask attendees to bring unwanted physical books, but on this point it's harder for us to provide something very organised/guaranteed from DebConf/Debian. Perhaps someone from the sponsorship team could check through our previous O'Reilly contacts if they could help by donating books? (If they gave enough, I think we could recognise that as DebConf sponsorship in itself, if they wanted that.) > Overall they're very open on having DebConf at the UCA campus. We even > talked about using the spaces 24/7 and that's doable. Great -- that must mean they're enthusiastic, since normally venues are scared of that part. :) -- Moray _______________________________________________ Debconf-team mailing list Debconf-team@lists.debconf.org http://lists.debconf.org/mailman/listinfo/debconf-team
