Price difference in favor of Belo Horizonte: Between US$120 and US$7,200 > Accommodation > > Belo Horizonte: $80 per person per night (240 rooms available) > Managua: $20--$30 per person per night (need to split between hotels) So, assuming 300 attendees and an even split between the hotels (of course, actual data will be quite different), this results in a price difference in favor of Managua of US$16,500 _daily_. US$115,500 for the full DebConf week (BH total US$168,000; Managua total US$52,500). Staying 100% at the more expensive hotel, Managua total US$63,000. Not considering DebCamp. > Food > > Belo Horizonte: $17 per person per meal (estimate $95,200) > Managua: buffet $5--$9 per person per meal Again, taking as a baseline 300 people, just for the DebConf week... If breakfast is included, US$17 * 3 (meals a day) * 7 (days) * 300 (people) = US$107,100 for BH (US$71,400 skipping breakfast). Taking the medium point (US$7), three meals a day in Managua would be US$44,100. Taking only the more expensive meal (US$9), three meals a day in Managua would be US$56,700. > Other > > Belo Horizonte: $5 per person per coffee break (estimate $21,000) > Managua: $1.00--$1.25 per person per beer Ok. We are not buying beer to our people (maybe some sponsor will), and the coffee breaks are nice but skippable, so I'm not taking those into account. Of course, many people will pay for their own lodging and food, and we don't know if we are having 300 people, fewer or more. And DebCamp is smaller, but is not ignorable. But I think having the totalized numbers are important.
