Greetings, Coffee Lovers!
The Coffee Lab is now ready in the social space, we have a selection
of three fairtrade beans. We are welcome contributors to bring their
own beans to share in the Lab.
We're also excited to offer the "Mr. Clever Dripper" and man powered
grinder for a hands-on brewing experience. :)
If you fancy a change, I brought to the coffee lab:
- an aeropress with a permanent inox filter - https://aeropress.com
- an appropriate grinder - aerspeed from https://madebyknock.com/
I intend to bring it everyday, and get it back in the evening so I can
make my morning coffee (Yeah it's selfish, I know, but you don't want a
grouchy coffeeless nodens in the morning, so in a way it is me being
nice I guess?).
The grinder should already have the proper setting (it's at 12h + 8h,
that is one turn and 2/3 of a turn).
There are many ways to make coffee with an aeropress.
Recipes and instructions can be found, for instance, at
https://aeroprecipe.com/ (you need an account to filter receipes),
or at the "world aeropress championship winners recipes" page:
https://worldaeropresschampionship.com/pages/recipes
My personal favourite, which is using the "inverted" method:
- set the aeropress upside down, standing on the plunger, so you can
"fill it"
- grind 18g of coffee and put it in the aeropress
- pour a small amount of water (enough to wet all the grounded coffee),
let it bloom for ~30 seconds
- stir it (with the flat plastic thing labeled aeropress) 4-5 times
- add the rest of the water, put the inox filter + lid and let rest for
3 min.
- put your (clean) cup (reversed) on top of everything, and smoothly
flip the ensemble so your cup sit in the table
- push the press (gently) to pour the coffee in your cup
remember to empty the grounds and clean the press for the next one (and
enjoy your coffee) ^^
