is there a reason why you want to compile it yourself? cyrus SASL is mandatory for postfix in case of smtp CLIENT, means authenticate against a final destination, so if your postfix package is sane it is still using cyrus SASL and finally your distribution has the packages and most likely you have installed them depeding on your distribution you need not only the pure "cyrus-sasl" but also subpackages for several auth-mechs in that case avoid gssapi packages - they lead in my case to fail authenticaton with MS exchange and after uninstall postfix happily use mechs working on bith sides ____________________________ that's Fedora [harry@srv-rhsoft:~]$ rpm -qa | grep -i cyrus cyrus-sasl-plain-2.1.26-14.fc20.x86_64 cyrus-sasl-2.1.26-14.fc20.x86_64 cyrus-sasl-lib-2.1.26-14.fc20.x86_64 cyrus-sasl-md5-2.1.26-14.fc20.x86_64
