is there a reason why you want to compile it yourself?

cyrus SASL is mandatory for postfix in case of smtp CLIENT, means
authenticate against a final destination, so if your postfix package
is sane it is still using cyrus SASL and finally your distribution
has the packages and most likely you have installed them

depeding on your distribution you need not only the pure
"cyrus-sasl" but also subpackages for several auth-mechs

in that case avoid gssapi packages - they lead in my case to
fail authenticaton with MS exchange and after uninstall postfix
happily use mechs working on bith sides
