This assumes a perfect world and is probably bogus.
For example, in order to achieve this kind of performance they might
have to disclose their use of:
spam filters
virus filters
DNS checks,
UCE restrictions similar to postfix
did they use SMTP or QMTP?
At this point you might ask on the postfix list about this
performance comparison and see if they have any constructive feedback.

Hello!
I am looking for some info from experienced users of postfix and
qmail. Which one is better?
I only used postfix (currently) and sendmail (previously). I like
postfix, but I've heard that qmail is faster and therefore better
for large sites.
I just noticed that my ISP uses qmail, and they probably have
over a million mailboxes.
Does anymore have any opinion which one is better?
Last time(2 years ago) i had a look at qmail is was mostly
unmaintained,
because the maintainer thought it has all needed features. Things
like ldap
support, has been available as patches only. And you were forced
to compile
qmail yourself, if you like to have ldap support, because of the very
strange license.
Postfix is well maintained and get's actively developed. And it
provides
you all needed features.
In my opinion you should not count only on speed but also how easy
you can
maintain a system.

Thank you. I am actually looking for some comparising data about
speed. As far as 'easy', yes postfix is easy, but after using
sendmail anything looks easy.
I don't mind compiling and recompiling if the program will work
faster.
I read somewhere on qmail site that they were able to send 45
million emails in one day from one machine vs about 9 million with
postfix. I wonder if this is true?
