We are currently using this routing solution in postfix+cyrus+ldap.... we are setting it up on postfix+dbmail+mysql this week. It works great... there is certainly some extra traffic meaning a message that round robins to postfix on server A which is then forwarded to server B based on alias within postfix, but as you said it is simple and works very well.
