My setup is as follows:

FreeBSD 5.2.1-RELEASE (GENERIC) #0: Mon Feb 23 20:45:55 GMT 2004

I installed it via ftp and made sure I installed the complete thing with
all developer stuff.

I'm curious which *nix variant/distro you're using that doesn't provide 
a /bin/bash?
