In a previous post it was suggested to force darktable to create a new profile (I don't remember the exact terms). It was an excellent idea but as far as I know you did not give a feedback.
To do that (in the case you use Windows 10, otherwise the procedure might be slightly different), close darktable if it is running, then use Windows Explorer and browse to C:\Users\<your user account>\AppData\Local. Note that AppData is a hidden folder and you have either to make hidden files/folders visible or to type the path in the navigation bar. There you will see a folder named "darktable". Rename it to whatever you want, e.g. "darktable.old". Run darktable and a new folder "darktable" should have been created in C:\Users\<your user account>\AppData\Local. Then check if darktable now works as it should. In this case the problem is solved. It means that the your old profile was corrupted. I don't believe it is possible to fix it and you'll have to reimport all your pictures. Nevertheless, in your old profile there might be files named - data.db-snp-AAAAMMDDHHMMSS & library.db-snp-AAAAMMDDHHMMSS, which I guess are snapshots, - data.db-pre-x.y.z & library.db-pre.x.y.z that seem (just my guess) to be backup of data.db & library.db before installing darktable version x.y.z You might try to experiment very carefully with these, from the newest to the earliest. For example, in my case, the more recent are data.db-pre-3.4.1 & library.db-pre-3.4.1. Before installing darktable 3.4.1 I was using 3.4.0 so 1. I should uninstall 3.4.1 and install 3.4.0. After that I should empty the directory C:\Users\Laurent\AppData\Local\darktable, copy there these two files, rename them data.db & library.db and then run darktable 3.4.0. Maybe everything will work fine. 2. If it doesn't work, I would repeat the entire procedure (uninstall 3.4.0 and install the previous version I used, i.e. 3.2.1, empty the directory C:\Users\Laurent\AppData\Local\darktable, copy there data.db-pre-3.4.0 & library.db-pre-3.4.0, and rename them data.db & library.db. 3. Repeat step 2 until everything works fine or until you have tried with all previous versions. 4. If you succeeded you can upgrade darktable to whatever version you wand. I have absolutely no idea if it will work. And if it works I have absolutely no idea if this procedure is safe for the future or not. Anyway, the safest way is to let darktable create its "darktable" directory and to reimport all your pictures using darktable itself. For any further question or discussion, it would be preferable and more practical to use a user forum (in french: https://forums.darktable.fr/) Le jeu. 18 févr. 2021 à 18:05, susana gastelumendi <susana_gastelume...@hotmail.com> a écrit : > > I have all the files .xmp > > > ________________________________ > De: Laurent Zimmermann <laurent....@gmail.com> > Enviado: jueves, 18 de febrero de 2021 17:50 > Para: susana gastelumendi <susana_gastelume...@hotmail.com> > Cc: darktable-dev@lists.darktable.org <darktable-dev@lists.darktable.org> > Asunto: Re: RV: [darktable-dev] CAN NOT OPEN FOLDERS > > Well that means that darktable was able to import your pictures.
