The very popular OS used in my case is one that has only two settings for the
font size, 12pt and SUPER LARGE. So adjusting the OS font size is not an option
for me and many others. The screen that I'm using for this is 1920x1080, very
common. May I ask what size screen you're using? Maybe you have a bigger
screen, and on 1920x1080 we need smaller sizes?

I actually prefer 8.2pt to be exact (not 8pt) but this might be an odd default.
Can you try 8.2pt and tell me what you think?

Yes, other programs that I use on this OS, including GIMP, use a small font
size like 8.2pt for parts of their interface. I'm not suggesting anything
controversial here.

Roboto is a great free-license font, but it is not my OS font. So this shows
that we can do something different and not simply use the OS.

My interest is to advocate that fellow photographers and students use darktable
and for them to instantly love it. I don't want to add, "You might want to
reduce the font size in the settings... etc". This will make them think twice
because they have to play around with settings? Not optimal. I want something
that just works. On 1080 screens 12pt is almost not usable.

I'm still available to do the 'T' icon, if needed.

Recommended font sizes for 1080 screens are 8.2, 9, and 10pt for any future
font-size toggle button.
