OED is Oxford English Dictionary, not Olde English Dictionary.

Whinge is in current usage, now colloquial.

See http://www.termsys.demon.co.uk/whinge.htm for a real life example.

It's origins are a few centuries back. Not disqualifying from usage, I
trust, as every word in this sentence also has its origins a few centuries back.
