The discussion you guys were engaged in was in the context of (the
local environment, the closure, whatever terms one prefers) World War
II. The Russians were luckily on the winning side, the Vatican was on
the Axis side.
Claims that Stalin lost because he's now dead and that Pope Pius won
because his successors are breeding are a disservice to the debate.
