deep in hell lies a shattered and oppressed heart, broken into dust
and stomped on and pooped on and condemned to be deep inside hell
forever

but a dawn rises and sunbeams sparkle on a smidge of a heart, poking
out of hell into a virgin wilderness, looking this way or that,
breathing morning life into a shred of ancient hopelessness
